Terms and Conditions of Sale

These terms and conditions of sale apply to all orders placed on the English version of the Chronostyle website (chronostyle.fr/en/). Chronostyle sells pre-owned and vintage watches and jewelry.

Seller: Chronostyle, SASU with a share capital of €3,000, 29 rue de la Cigogne, 45100 Orléans, France — RCS 921 092 953 — VAT FR04921092953.
Customer service: +33 6 49 22 89 52 — olivier@chronostyle.fr

The terms that apply to your order are those published on the website on the day you place it. Purchases made in person at the Orléans showroom are governed by the French version of these terms.

1. The watches

All watches are pre-owned or vintage, and each one is a single piece. Each listing describes the watch, its condition, what it comes with (box, papers) and its year or period when known. Photos show the actual watch; they are provided for illustration and should be read together with the description. If you have any doubt, ask me before ordering: I can send more photos or a video.

An offer is valid while the watch is shown as available on the website. Because each watch is unique and is also shown at the showroom, it may sell in the meantime. If a watch turns out to be unavailable after your order, I will tell you straight away and refund you in full within 14 days, by the payment method you used.

2. Ordering

You place your order by adding the watch to your cart, entering your details and confirming payment. Before confirming, you can review and correct your order. Placing the order means you accept these terms. You will receive an email confirming your order and its details; please check it and tell me at once about any error.

To prevent fraud, I may ask you to confirm your identity before shipping, especially for high-value orders or deliveries outside the European Union. If you do not provide the requested information, the order may be cancelled and refunded in full.

3. Prices and VAT

Prices are shown in euros and are the same for every destination. Watches are sold under the French margin scheme for second-hand goods (Article 297 A of the French Tax Code): VAT is included in the price and is not shown separately on the invoice, which bears the mention “Margin scheme – second-hand goods”.

For deliveries outside the European Union, the sale is exempt from French VAT as an export (Article 262 I of the French Tax Code). The price remains the same. Customs duties, import VAT or local taxes in the country of delivery are not included: see section 6.

Shipping costs are added at checkout according to the destination (section 5). If a price is obviously wrong, I will contact you before shipping; you may then accept the correct price or cancel your order and be refunded in full.

4. Payment

Payment is made in euros when you order, by credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal or bank transfer. Card and PayPal payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal over secure connections; I never see your card details. If you pay in another currency, your bank or card issuer handles the conversion.

For a bank transfer, the watch is reserved for you for 5 days. If the payment has not arrived after 8 days, the order is cancelled. The watch is shipped once the payment has been received.

The watch remains the property of Chronostyle until it has been paid in full.

5. Delivery

Watches ship from Orléans by DHL Express, insured for their full value and handed over against signature, to the delivery address given in your order. Shipping costs, insurance included:

  • France and Monaco: free;
  • Europe (European Union, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra): €80;
  • rest of the world: €150.

The watch is shipped once payment is confirmed. Indicative delivery times after dispatch are 1 to 2 business days in France, 2 to 4 in Europe and 3 to 6 elsewhere. If the watch has not been delivered within 30 days of your order, you may cancel the order and be refunded in full.

The risk of loss or damage passes to you when you, or a person you have designated, take physical possession of the watch. Please check the parcel in front of the courier: if it is damaged or appears to have been opened, note it on the delivery slip and inform me the same day, with photos if possible.

Straps made from protected species (alligator, crocodile, lizard, ostrich) are removed before shipping outside the European Union, as they require a CITES permit; I will contact you to choose a replacement strap.

6. Customs, duties and import taxes

Within the European Union, there is nothing more to pay on delivery.

Outside the European Union, you are the importer of the watch. Customs duties, import VAT or local taxes and the carrier’s clearance fees are payable by you, directly to the carrier, on delivery; they are not included in the price or in the shipping cost. Their amount depends on your country, on the declared value and on the watch’s country of origin. It is your responsibility to check, before ordering, the import rules that apply in your country; Chronostyle cannot be held responsible if local regulations restrict the import of a watch.

The watch is always declared at its real value and origin; it cannot be under-declared or declared as a gift. If you refuse the parcel or do not pay the duties, the watch is returned to me: you are refunded the price of the watch, minus the shipping costs, the return costs and any duties or charges invoiced to me.

7. Right of withdrawal (14 days)

If you are a consumer, you have 14 days from the day you (or a person you designate, other than the carrier) receive the watch to withdraw from the purchase, without giving a reason. This applies to every order placed on the website, whatever the country of delivery, including orders collected at the showroom.

To exercise it, tell me before the end of this period with a clear statement, by email to olivier@chronostyle.fr or by post to Chronostyle, 29 rue de la Cigogne, 45100 Orléans, France. You may use the model form below, but you do not have to.

Send the watch back without undue delay, and at the latest 14 days after informing me, with everything it came with (box, papers, accessories). The direct cost of returning the watch is yours; for a watch of this value, I recommend an insured service with signature. You are only liable for any loss in value resulting from handling beyond what is needed to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the watch (for example wear, resizing of the bracelet or removal of protective films).

I will refund all payments received from you, including the standard delivery costs, within 14 days of being informed of your withdrawal, using the same means of payment you used, unless you expressly agree otherwise. I may withhold the refund until I have received the watch back or you have supplied proof of having sent it, whichever is earlier.

For deliveries outside the European Union, the import duties and taxes you paid to your customs authority are not collected by Chronostyle and cannot be refunded by me; you may be able to reclaim them from your customs authority. Before sending the watch back, contact me: I will give you the customs instructions for its return to France (return of exported goods), so that it is not taxed again on arrival.

Model withdrawal form (complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract):
To Chronostyle, 29 rue de la Cigogne, 45100 Orléans, France — olivier@chronostyle.fr:
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract of sale of the following goods: …
Ordered on … / received on …
Name of consumer: …
Address of consumer: …
Signature of consumer (only if this form is notified on paper): …

8. Guarantees

Legal guarantees. Whatever the commercial warranty below, you benefit from the legal guarantee of conformity (Articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and from the guarantee against hidden defects (Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code). The legal guarantee of conformity lasts 2 years from delivery; for a second-hand watch, a lack of conformity that appears within 12 months of delivery is presumed to have existed at delivery. Under this guarantee, you are entitled to the repair or replacement of the watch free of charge or, failing that, to a price reduction or the cancellation of the sale. To use it, contact me.

Chronostyle warranty (1 year). In addition, every watch is covered by my warranty for 1 year from the date of the invoice. During this year, I repair, through my watchmaker, any defect that appears after delivery. This warranty does not cover:

  • damage caused by an accident, a shock or incorrect handling;
  • damage resulting from a lack of care or from work by an unauthorized third party;
  • normal wear of the strap or bracelet, case and crystal, and batteries;
  • the presence of water, condensation or traces of oxidation;
  • any watch that has been modified or used in an abnormal way.

Under this warranty, shipping the watch to me is at your expense.

9. Personal data

The personal data you provide is used only to process your order and to answer you. It is shared only with the service providers needed for this (payment, delivery, hosting). You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, and the other rights granted by the GDPR, by writing to olivier@chronostyle.fr. More information in the legal notice.

10. Complaints

For any complaint, please contact me first: +33 6 49 22 89 52 or olivier@chronostyle.fr. I will do my best to find a solution with you.

11. Applicable law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by French law. If you are a consumer residing in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. In the event of a dispute, the competent courts are those designated by law; as a consumer, you may also bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.
