My view

Le futur imaginé en 1953

Jaeger Lecoultre Futurematic Calatrava “Big Eye” in 18k rose gold - Reference E502 - ’50s.

GOOD TO KNOW

It is worth noting that this is one of the first watches fitted with a hacking (stop-seconds) function, very useful when you need to set the time precisely, to the second. With its 37 mm case, this watch perfectly embodies today’s aesthetic.

One of its unique features is the absence of a visible crown, since it sits on the back of the watch, which gives it remarkable symmetry.

This 37 mm Jaeger Lecoultre also has the particularity of a power reserve indicator on its dial; its 18k gold case houses the automatic movement 497.

The dial shows light marks from age; generic leather strap and unsigned crown.

What I love: its 37 mm gold case, its crown placed on the back of the watch and the size of its two “Big Eye” sub-dials.

« The Futurematic is Jaeger-LeCoultre at the height of its inventiveness. »
