The EBERHARD & CO  "Les Ponts de Martel, a Tri Compax chronograph reissued in the ’90s,

Since time immemorial, La Chaux-de-Fonds has been the heart of fine Swiss watchmaking. In 1887, Georges-Lucien Eberhard, aged 22, founded the watchmaking manufacture Eberhard & Co. From its earliest days, the house specialized in making complicated watches, and it introduced its first chronograph wristwatch in 1919. Chronograph watches would later become the specialty of this watchmaking manufacture. At that time, wealthy customers and officers of the Italian Royal Navy wore on their wrists many of its complicated watches by Eberhard & Co.  

The watch house Eberhard & Co took up all the codes of the model made in the ’50s: a chronograph with a round gold-plated case and rectangular pushers. The enamel dial is very even overall, with three subdials showing 30 minutes, 12 hours and seconds, and a multicolored graduation for the tachymeter scale.

Inside, I find the caliber 146 HP with column wheel and 17 jewels, of high quality and very rare. This model has its caseback engraved with the words "Édition Antiquité Limitée à 850 chronographes avec Ébauches "Les Ponts de Martel Originale des années 1950", and the case measures 37 mm in diameter excluding the crown. Aesthetically, the case framed by a fluted caseband gives a carefully finished look.

A real success for this series limited to 850 pieces: Eberhard & Co, the watch manufacture hits the mark with every reissue of its old historic models. I recommend this watch to anyone looking for a "Tri Compax" chronograph at a reasonable price.
