LIP Paul Newman from the ’60s – Valjoux 7733 caliber
Highly prized by collectors for its history!
Facing the quartz crisis, LIP teamed up with Breitling to distribute the Swiss brand’s chronographs through a network of French retailers. Thanks to this partnership, you can find other examples on the dials of old Navitimer, Superocean and Cosmonaute models bearing both names, Breitling - Lip.
This model dates from the ’60s: it is a LIP chronograph with two counters, positioned at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock. The original dial is gray in the center, with a white and blue telemeter scale. Chrome-plated stainless steel case of 36 mm excluding the crown, round pushers. Generic blue leather strap.
I love the perfect combination in this unusual sporty chronograph: its magnificent dial recalls the one Rolex used on the exotic Daytonas.
