My view
What I think of it
The LIP Stop, also known as the LIP Parking, has the particularity of a 60-minute timer that lets the owner of the watch check the time remaining before getting a fine.
Thanks to a central disc, you can follow the time left on the parking meter and always stay informed. This model was a hit with young city dwellers looking to avoid parking tickets. This watch is a wonderful horological answer to the arrival of the first parking meters that were springing up in cities in the early ’60s.
Produced from 1968 to 1971, this watch has a black disc; its 34 mm case, excluding the crown, is in chrome-plated steel, and the timer is started with the pusher located at 14h. The mechanical movement, referenced by Lip as R 870, is a Durowé 471-1.
Nicknamed the LIP Parking, this LIP STOP model is an excellent investment, highly sought after by collectors of vintage LIP watches from the 1960s-1970s. Examples in good condition are rare.
