How buying from Montreal works
Before ordering, you can write to me with any question, or ask for more photos of a watch. The online shop shows each watch with detailed characteristics and photos, so you can narrow your choice from Montreal.
Once payment is confirmed, I prepare the shipment. Your watch leaves Orléans by DHL Express, insured for the full value of the watch, in discreet packaging, and handed over against signature.
Shipping to Canada costs €150 and takes about 3 to 6 business days from dispatch. Customs duties, import VAT or local taxes and the carrier's clearance fees are payable by the buyer, directly to DHL, on delivery. They are not included in the price of the watch or in the shipping cost, and depend on the country, the value and the origin of the watch. I always declare the watch at its real value and with its true origin.
What I check before a watch is listed
Every watch passes through my hands before it is listed. I open it, inspect it, and have it serviced. If it does not convince me, it is not sold.
Chronostyle has existed since 2022, and I have fifteen years of experience in watches, eight of them in Geneva. Each watch comes with a one-year warranty.
What to look for in a pre-owned or vintage watch
Condition, originality, service history, and box and papers matter. Ask for clear photos of the dial, case, lugs, and movement when possible. A watch with sharp case edges and an untouched dial usually gives you more confidence than one with polished surfaces or replaced details. Box and papers are useful, but they are not the whole story; the watch itself should be coherent.
Jaeger-LeCoultre and Universal Genève
Jaeger-LeCoultre and Universal Genève hold a particular place for me because of their Swiss manufacture heritage. A vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre should feel refined in the movement and restrained in the dial. A vintage Universal Genève is often most interesting when the case, dial, and movement all match the period of the reference.
If you want a used Rolex Montreal, I can tell you what I see in the photos and what I would check in person. I also encourage you to look at these two houses. The same advice applies: check condition, originality, and signs of careful servicing rather than buying on brand name alone.
Selling rather than buying? I buy watches too, wherever you live: send me photos of yours for an appraisal.
