What I check before a watch is sold
Every watch passes through my hands before it is listed. I open it, inspect it, and have it serviced. If it does not convince me, it is not sold.
After that, I consider condition and originality. A watch should read clearly: the dial, case, movement, and service history need to agree with one another.
- Condition: even dial aging and a case that keeps its profile.
- Originality: parts that match the watch as it left the factory.
- Service history: useful, but not always complete.
- Box and papers: nice to have, not a substitute for inspection.
Each watch comes with a one-year warranty. I have fifteen years of experience in watches, eight of them in Geneva, and Chronostyle has existed since 2022.
Shipping from Orléans to Galway
Shipping to Ireland costs €80 and takes about 2 to 4 business days from dispatch. The watch travels by DHL Express, insured for its full value, in discreet packaging, and is handed over against signature.
Because Ireland is in the European Union, there is nothing more to pay on delivery. My watches are sold under the French margin scheme for second-hand goods, and the VAT due is already included in the price.
If you prefer to see a watch before deciding, you can visit me at 29 rue de la Cigogne, 45100 Orléans, France, by appointment. The showroom holds no stock; any watch from the site can be shown on request.
What to look for in a Longines or Omega from Galway
When you consider a vintage Longines or Omega, spend more time on the dial, crown, and movement than on the box. Both brands have long production histories, so small differences in a dial signature or a case profile matter.
Service history is reassuring, but gaps are common; what counts is the quality of the movement after a proper inspection. I work with both brands, along with Rolex, Cartier, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Breitling, TAG Heuer and Universal Genève.
Thinking of selling your own watch?
I appraise watches from photos, from Galway or anywhere else. If we agree, the watch travels to me with a secure carrier, in a sealed package. Here is how it works.
